Amazin’ Mets Are Back! Historical Comeback in 9th Sends them to NLDS

This could be another magical postseason for the New York Mets. They just defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2, in an incredible game, with another wild ending.

It started on Monday in game one of their doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves. New York blew a 6-3 lead in the 8th inning. Even worse, it came against their standout closer, Edwin Diaz. Then team MVP, shortstop Francisco Lindor, hit a 2-run home run to send the Mets to the postseason.

Tonight, October 3rd, 2024, the hero was Pete Alonso, who hit a game-winning three-run homer off Brewers closer, Devin Williams. The Brewers had shut the Mets down for the previous 15 innings, allowing just two hits tonight until the 9th, and no runs for the final seven innings in last night's game.

Until once again, Lindor stepped up to the plate, this time drawing a leadoff walk. Brandon Nimmo singled, making it first and third with one out, before Pete’s bomb.

Diaz got his revenge tonight, picking up the win after going 1.2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts.

The Mets advance in the playoffs for the first time since 2015, when they were the National League Champions. They will now take on their rivals and NL East champion Philadelphia Phillies, led by former Met, Zack Wheeler.
