Damien Priest Was Cast for a Role in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Damien Priest, was actually cast in Marvel’s blockbuster movie, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. The Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel made $859 million dollars at the worldwide box office.
Damien spoke to Chris Van Vliet about what happened. You can watch the full video below.
“It’s a long story but basically it got taken away from me, but not from Marvel.”
Obviously it was WWE, and they strongly hinted at Vince McMahon. Mentioning how the new regime.
Some were saying it’s due to WWE pushing him to the title, but I don’t know. That timing doesn’t seem to add up.
He cashed in to win it at WrestleMania 40, April of 2024.
“Wakanda Forever” finished filming in March of 2022.
Whatever happened, it’s a shame. That movie was missing a great villain, unless you enjoyed Namor. He was fine, not great IMO.
Maybe Priest was up for Namor himself? That would have been crazy and a big time loss for him. Considering it’s Marvel, it’s a loss for him either way. Maybe he can get another role there in the future or at DC.
Sadly, the sequel very much missed the true “Black Panther”, Chadwick Boseman. He passed away at the young age of 43 in 2018 due to cancer. He amazingly still went on to film two movies for fans, while undergoing treatment.
