Double or Nothing vs. King/Queen of the Ring 2024 | Who Wins?
Two huge shows are coming up this weekend in AEW Double or Nothing and WWE’s King and Queen of the Ring. The WWE event airs Saturday (May 25, 2024) night, while DoN airs Sunday.
I’m going to do a quick breakdown and comparison of the shows, or something like that.
Double or Nothing will air exclusively on Triller (FITE). WWE will air on the free Peacock app.
That’s +1 for WWE.
Double or Nothing has 10 matches, King & Queen of the Ring has just 5.
I’d prefer a number in the middle, around 8.
5 seems silly for a special, so that’s +1 for AEW.
Which match am I most excited for? Hmm, Anarchy in the Arena, I think.
That could be a disaster but in a fun way, or it could be really fun. Maybe some surprises, etc. AEW will have a lot of great matches, it’s what they do.
I’m a story person though and that match is also connected to the major storyline involving owner Tony Khan.
I’m reading this card again, where the hell are The Acclaimed? I would take a point away if the answer wasn’t likely on Google.
So that’s -1 for me being lazy and +2 for AEW having the match I’m most excited for. They get an extra point for the use of flamethrowers, that’s cool AF.
For WWE, I’m going with the Becky vs. Liv title match. At the time of this writing, we don’t even know who’s facing Gunther and Lyra Valkyria. No big deal, it’s a timing thing with SmackDown tonight.
Still, not really excited for those. The IC Triple threat is 2nd for me after Becky/Liv. What about Cody?
Well does Logan Paul have any chance of winning the Universal Title? In Saudi Arabia? Nope! I can’t be too interested knowing the outcome ahead of time like that.
For AEW, the match I’m 2nd most interested in is oddly enough Willow vs. Mercedes.
The artist formerly known as Sasha Banks seemed like a guarantee to win this match, then she started doing awful promos and looks incredibly out of place in AEW.
That’s +1 for WWE, I’m only interested because Mercedes has been SO bad.
I mentioned the Cody match, what about the new Champion Swerve vs Christian? IMO, Christian is THE best character in pro wrestling today.
It’s a shitty spot for Swerve, I can’t see them not putting the title on Christian, he’s been so fucking great. Maybe they drag the feud out, I don’t see it though. Swerve loses and that’s lame.
So that’s -1 for AEW.
Now my hands hurt, so I’m done writing. Let’s check the math!
