Former WCW SVP Eric Bischoff Calls Dave Meltzer “Comically Ignorant”

Eric Bischoff, former Senior Vice President of WCW and current host of the hit podcast “83 Weeks”, blasted pro wrestling historian and “reporter”, Dave Meltzer. Not for the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last, this one is especially messed up though.

Dave prematurely reported on the tragic passing of Afa Anoa'i on Twitter. This was hours before he died, leading to all kinds of confusion. It was quickly cleared up when Afa’s daughter, Vale Anoa’i, had to speak out and refuted Dave’ claims.

It also led to anger from Eric and many others in the business.

Bischoff quoted his tweet with: “Dave, you are not only comically ignorant when it comes to the wrestling business, your sloppiness, lack of integrity when it comes to your cos-play “reporting” makes pond scum look good.”

I posted WrestleFeatures reply, because it was on top when I looked, and it’s a good one. Anyone can see the entire section is mostly fans and other PW site accounts abusing him, for not even apologizing after his Twitter correction.

Which was just: “A correction, Afa has not passed away. He is battling.”

We at all AllDistractions send our deepest condolences to the Anoa'i family.

Afa Anoa’i was born on November 21, 1942, in Aua, American Samoa, he’s best known for his time in the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) during the 1980s and 1990s. Anoa’i gained prominence as one-half of the tag team known as The Wild Samoans, alongside his partner and cousin, Sika.

The Wild Samoans were distinguished by their fierce personas, unique in-ring style, and signature face paint. They became known for their high-energy matches and ability to connect with audiences. Throughout their career, they captured multiple tag team championships, showcasing their dominance in the tag team division.

In addition to his wrestling career, Afa Anoa’i made significant contributions to the industry as a promoter and trainer. He ran the Wild Samoan Training Center in Pennsylvania, where he has mentored numerous aspiring wrestlers, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in professional wrestling.

Afa's legacy extends beyond the ring, as he has also appeared in various television and film projects, often portraying his Samoan heritage. His impact on wrestling is evident not only through his achievements but also through the continued success of his family members, including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Roman Reigns, who have become major stars in contemporary wrestling and entertainment.

Whose side are you on? Dave or Eric?
