Huge MLB Playoff Pitching Changes, Senga In & Musgrove Out

In a surprising move, the New York Mets announced they will start Kodai Senga for Game 1 of the National League Division Series. The right-hander has missed the last two months due to a calf injury, which he sustained in his only outing this season after missing the first 4 months due to a shoulder and triceps injury.

Inn 2023, during his rookie season with the Mets, Senga was incredible, with an ERA of 2.99 along with 202 strikeouts over 166 & 1/3 innings.

Game 1 against the Philadelphia Phillies takes place tomorrow, October 5th, at 4:08 P.M. EST.

Also, the San Diego Padres announced starting pitcher Joe Musgrove will be out for the playoffs, needing to undergo Tommy John surgery. That’s a big blow for the Padres, as Musgrove has been at his best for the last few months.

The 31 year-old returning from an injury in August, then posted a 2.15 ERA with 57 strikeouts and just eight walks over his final 50 1/3 innings.

The Padres face off against the power-house Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1, also tomorrow, October 5, at 8:38 P.M. EST (5:38 P.M. PST).
