Robert Downey Jr. Returning to the MCU for Avengers as Dr. Doom!
There have been rumors going around about Robert Downey Jr., making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Seemingly as an Iron Man variant, or IM prime, due to time travel.
Not even close!
It was announced tonight during the 2024 Comic-Con International in San Diego, RDJ is coming back to play big bad, Doctor Doom!
Downey held up Doom’s mask and said, “new mask…what can I tell ya? I like playing complicated characters.”
He will star in the newly titled upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Woah, this is a tough one! Downey was the MCU glue and nothing has been the same without him. His ending was pretty perfect, other than his best friend Rhodes being retconned into a Skrull at the time (thanks Secret Invasion!).
I’ve already seen fans complaining, many wanted him back, but not in this way. That’s how I’m feeling at the moment, but also it’s RDJ!
Hard to not be excited about the return of an awesome actor, that carried the MCU for so long (with Chris Evans and ScarJo to lesser degrees).
