TNA Wrestling Victory Road 2024 Grades & Highlights

Unlike some people, who shall remain nameless, but let's just say their name rhymes with Mave Deltzer, I grade matches on a scale of 1 to 4 stars. Even if Kenny Omega is in the match, I will not give it a 56 star rating, as some people might do.

Preshow

  • Kushida def. Leon Slater **½

  • HammerSomething (Hammerstone & Jake Something) def. Eric Young & Steve Maclin **¾

Main Show

  • The Hardys ("Broken" Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy) def. First Class (A.J Francis & KC Navarro) **½

  • X Division Championship: Mike Bailey def. Zach Wentz to become NEW CHAMPION ***¾

  • PCO & Rhino vs. Deathmatch Royalty (Matt Cardona & Steph De Lander)

Steph gave a speech about needing surgery and not wanting to be part of this. No match happened, Cardona hit his finisher on Rhino. That was odd, hopefully she’s ok.

  • Knockouts Tag Team Championships: Spitfire (Dani Luna & Jody Threat) def. Masha Slamovich (c) & Tasha Steelz to become NEW CHAMPIONS **¾

  • Joe Hendry def. Josh Alexander ***

  • Tag Team Championships: The System (Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards) (w/ Alisha Edwards) def. ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) ***¼

  • Knockouts Championship: Jordynne Grace (c) def. Wendy Choo **¾

  • World Championship: Nic Nemeth (c) def. Moose ***½

TNA Victory Road Overall Grade: 8.2

This card didn’t look especially good to me, then there was a late change with Tasha Steelz replacing the injured Alisha Edwards. There was a match dropped in an odd way (PCO/Steph), but TNA Victory Road 2024 ended up being surprisingly good!

Both preshow matches were fun and I’m excited to see the new team of HammerSomething. TNA has been lacking in tag teams across the board, plus they haven’t had a monster team like this in a long time.

Spitfire had to win, I figured There would be no teams left to face the champs if they broke up. They’re a solid, fun team, but I’d like to see a Dani Luna singles run sooner rather than later. For the first time in a while, Tasha looked like the star she is. Awesome to see.

Navarro has been a standout since replacing Rich Swann in First Class. Wentz vs. Speedball was one of the matches of the year, while Josh vs Hendry was a bit of a letdown. It was good, but nothing special. The only thing that really saved it was how over Joe Hendry is.

The System winning back the tag titles was nice, after the group lost the KO’s tag titles. I’m a System fan and love how they’ve been kept somewhat strong, even during their down times.

The KOs title match was pretty good. Rosemary attacking Jordynne with the help of Choo, post-match, keeps that feud going, which is interesting. The Men’s World title match was great because Nemeth and Moose have fantastic in-ring chemistry.

JBL returning and saving Nic from The System with 3 “Clotheslines from Hell” was a blast. Also, nice to see Santana in a big spot, stopping Moose from using the title on Nemeth.

The crowd was loud and responsive. That always helps a lot.
