Watch or Skip? “Thanksgiving” 2023 Horror Thriller from Eli Roth

Welcome to “Watch or Skip?” where we advise you on, well, watching or skipping movies and shows. It’s pretty simple.

This is the third one of these I’ve done. Check out the links for “Madame Web” and “Aquaman 2”. Now it’s time for something totally different, the horror/thriller “Thanksgiving”.

If you’re looking for a long review, this is not that. I’ll never spoil anything and these will mostly be short.

The film is directed by Eli Roth, it’s available now on Netflix.

My two favorite movie genres are thrillers and horror. I also read some good things about “Thanksgiving“, but had no idea what it was about.

Then it started and wow! That GIF is from the wild opening scene. I was quickly hooked…or so I thought.

The movie changes and becomes something else. A way more predictable type that we’ve seen before.

It’s slow, a bit cheesy, and not at all what I expected after that awesome opening scene.

The movie looks fantastic though, there are a bunch of cool/crazy scenes and nasty-looking kills.

So….should you watch it or skip it?

“Thanksgiving” stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim and Jalen Thomas Brooks. With Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman and Gina Gershon.

The film is based on Roth's fictitious trailer of the same name from “Grindhouse”. Jeff Rendell wrote the movie, along with Roth. It was produced by Roger Birnbaum.
