“Joker” Sequel Starring Phoenix & Gaga Rated R for “Full Nudity”
It’s been a rough time for comic book movies, with a lot of bombs coming out in the last few years. Many say the genre is dying, I don’t know about that but it’s clearly on the decline.
That just means a few big hits are needed to get back on track, and here’s one! A big complaint is that too many of these movies are similar. NOBODY said that about “Joker” though, and now the sequel looks to be even crazier.
There’s news today that just like the 2019 film, this will also be rated R. The MPA rating is due to “some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality, and brief full nudity.”

The “Joker” sequel, titled “Joker: Folie à Deux”, hits theaters October 4, 2024. Todd Phillips returns to direct this Warner Bros. distribution.
Also returning is Sophie Dumond, with newcomers Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey.
“Joker” made $1.079 billion with a budget of around 60 million. The sequel has a budget of $200 million.
