The “Saw” Franchise is Returning for 11th Film

Lionsgate announced today their blockbuster “Saw” series will continue in 2024 with film #11. I personally thought the franchise was dead after the disappointing “Spiral”. Then “Saw X” happened, which was a prequel, bringing back the fantastic Tobin Bell in the starring role.

Not only that, but Shawnee Scott returned. I don’t have any stats on this. Just guessing those are most fans’ favorite characters. It did feel weird rooting for John, evil killer. Or maybe that’s great writing?

It was very refreshing after “Spiral” and the previous Saw films. Hopefully they can do something similar, I have no idea how, luckily much smarter people are on it.

I thought X was one of the best “Saw” movies. As did most reviewers, making it the best reviewed film of the series. It has the franchise’s highest grades on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and fans.

More importantly, it was a financial success. Unlike “Spiral” which grossed just $40.6 million against a budget of $20 million.

“Saw X” grossed $107.7 million worldwide, the budget was just $13 million.

The 11th film is set to release September 7, 2024. Great news for fans, we don’t have to wait very long!

For now, enjoy the Instagram photo and look for some clues.

X was directed by Kevin Greutert and written by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. Also starring Synnøve Macody Lund, Renata Vaca and Costas Mandylor.
